vacation

I am in a bit of a mood today and have been dreaming of vacation....not just any vacation but a vacation all by my lonesome. Yes I like to travel on my own, I also enjoy eating out by myself and even going to the movies solo. Someone at work asked where I would go and my first thought was hell I'd settle for Gatlinburg if it meant I could be by myself! What came out of my mouth was London which would be nice or maybe New York? Vienna? Munich? all places I have been and really enjoyed or maybe someplace I have not been Florence? Aruba? Scotland? Portugal? Hong Kong? Not that it matters all that much I don't seem to have in solo vacations on my horizon any time soon

modern day field trip

not only do we have to send in a signed permission slip but a NOTARIZED medical release in case of emergency. The field trip is Friday and I got the medical thing on Monday afternoon..like I don't have enough else going on in my day. I am a notary but I am fairly sure they would frown on my notarizing myself. What I find even more amusing is the space for both parents to sign..HA! they are going to have to make due with just my signature.

eeeew!

we did the family cookout thing at MIL's house yesterday it was also a bon voyage for SIL who is moving to Las Vegas. Of course a family friend was there with her granddaughter T who is a year older than C. They have played together since they were very young, birthday parties, family gatherings etc. Not best friends or anything but they are together often enough to get along however I sensed a definite shift in things yesterday. C got water allover the jersey he was wearing & he took it off-not so strange he has always been a bit odd about that sort of happenstance if it's wet it's dirtyin his world I almost taught him how to do his own laundry when he was 3 but he couldn't reach the knobs to start the machine. Anywho yesterday wet jersey off and this left him in a plain white shirt okay fine except he spilled food on it now that doesn't bother him normally, wipe it off and go(and no I don't know why food junk on his clothes is okay but not water somethings I am better off not trying to understand). This time however he put his shirt on inside out to hide the stain from T I suppose???? When did we start caring what a girl thought? So big ewww I am so not ready for all that nonsense

love those inane arguments

you know the ones where you husband swears up & down he has never seen a Natasha Richardson film except he has the one with Mia Farrow called Widow's Peak (which by the way he has to bloody well seen because we watched it together)and then he further claims the only Mia Farrow film he has seen was Rosemary's Baby(which may or may not be possible except I thought we had watched Hannah's Sisters together at some point)

spring break part deux

C has his turn at spring break this week. Gee wouldn't it have been nice if we would have had the same week?? alas that didn't happen...The kid started break with a sleepover at a friend's house including a trip to see Race to Witch Mountain followed by a Saturday of shopping then Sunday it was his turn to host a sleepover, only 1 friend I may be crazy but I am not nuts! The boys had all day to play on Monday. Poor boring all day Tuesday he went to daycare but then spent the night at his Mee-Maw's house and I guess he is spending the rest of the week there near as I can tell. Pretty sure MIL is taking C & cousin Z to Chuck E Cheese along with their aunt who is a big kid herself! Then Aunt S is taking them to do something tomorrow not quite sure what exactly but she planned on going or doing something. No flashy trips or big plans but a fun break nonetheless

what to do

the power outage has left us with a not working any longer DVR box
tragic really for starters
-we can't tell what time it is in the living room
-we can't hit a button and see what we are watching
-we can't rewind or pause anything we are watching
-we had episodes of Bourdain & Burn Notice-the season finale to watch still that are now lost....

who turned out the lights

at some point during the early morning hours the power went out. I am not quite sure when as the power had at some point either flickered or gone out so the time on my clock was incorrect. Not that it matters we still had no power. Growing up we use to lose power a lot, well maybe not a lot but it wasn't such a big deal you would simply gather flashlights & candles and hang out in the living room. I suppose we don't lose power very much at all here at the house and it kind of threw C for a loop, he was very put out that I would not go check the breaker box in the garage. Of course the real root of his angst was the fact he could not play his PS2 but quite frankly I had my own not being able to make coffee problems to deal with. Luckily the power came back on before I headed out to forage for caffeine.

just a day

a rainy kind of lazy but also kind of productive Saturday. I had the benefit of not having to go into work (um yay!) but David did and so the alarm went off at ugh 5:15 this morning. I got up made coffee and the decided what the hell I am going to back to bed and did, luckily remembering to set the alarm so I could go get the kid from his sleepover. Sleepover being a total oxymoron in this case. After pickup we headed out to do some clothes shopping and even after swearing up and down that all C needed was shorts and a belt he wheedled 3 new shirts out of me as well. We then went and finally spent some of the gift cards he got for Christmas on a memory card & a new game as well as a new watch & I warned him the alarm had better not go off at 3 in the morning or the watch we be so gone. The kid is notorious about playing with any watch, clock or in fact anything with a timer so it goes off in the middle of the night not waking him of course just me & David. We then hit Five Guys Burgers finally and well hell yum great burgers and loads of fries. It'll be added to our repertoire I am sure. Then swung by grocery to pick of a few things and home again C played video games and I managed a little cat nap and some mindless magazine reading. David came home and we enjoyed a little pasta with clam sauce for dinner-thankfully we still had a bottle of wine to enjoy! caught up on Bill Maher, managed some laundry in between it all..it has been a good day.
now tomorrow on the other hand is going to suck as I have to go to work at 3 to do inventory I hate inventory I would rather have my appendix out than work inventory

unusual turn of events

somehow I find myself with nothing to do this evening and an empty house....
how long till I am in pajama pants & in front of the television catching up on my DVR stuff?
