I had just started prepping dinner and my phone rings, C runs to get it for me as I have ground beef hands which is great he answers the phone then hands it to me and my ground beef hands I ask him 3 times before he finally manage to let me know it's David. OK I wash my hands in the minute they converse and as I reach for the hand towel and go to grab the phone C hangs up and passes along the message from David.......
ugh these two boys do their best to drive me crazy

those little kids have a lot of energy
on the camp field trip yesterday some of the older children were enlisted to assist in keeping up with the younger kids, C was with 6 years olds and was wiped out last night to the extent he chose to go to bed early because "those little kids have a lot of energy"

from a big fish in a little pond
to a much larger pond.....kiddo attending the day camp at the Y was bumpy the first few days he decided he hated it early on & what did we do to him?! Since he was a toddler he had been in much smaller settings as far as daycare/camp were concerned. The first week was apparently torture, or so we were lead to believe- he was given the option to stay at home with David that Friday which got an enthusiastic yes & a happy dance I seem to recall. Imagine my surprise walking out of the bathroom that Friday morning to find C with towel in hand, ready to shower oh and his lunch was ready to roll could I pleeease drive him to the Y he did not want to miss anything fun

and in other news
when you do not constantly remind the kid to watch his time and to get ready with a little more haste he will indeed miss the bus

using his stern voice
C found himself locked out of the house yesterday afternoon-it's what happens when you leave your keys in your coat in the closet inside the house, but I digress, the "system" failed and he had trouble getting a hold of anyone right away but it all worked out fine with little muss & fuss I was amused listening to my voice mail this morning to hear his "As soon as you get this message I need you to call me the FLIP back"
bwahahaha sadly I hit delete before I had time to think hey this is funny I need to save this voice mail

why yes I am just talking to hear myself talk
I believe we have hit the hard of hearing tween/teen years with C.
He has a big end of the year project involving reading a biography, further research of biography's subject, writing a speech about said person and some sort of visual poster type thing and a costume of some kind to represent this person. After some dithering back and forth George Washington Carver was chosen, a book procured & I asked C to start reading a couple of chapters at a time while taking copious notes to assist in the rest of the project. After the first few chapters I suggested he might try to take better more detailed notes of the chapters
"yes Mom"
Naturally the note taking did not get much better. The first installment of the project, a series of questions to aid in the speech is due next Tuesday. I asked that he begin to start filling that out, in his notebook so we could go over it before it got put to paper. Of course he started writing it on the paper directly and already two questions in I need to buy white out...do they still make white out? Not to mention he did not even touch the stuff till I walked in the door and asked him why he was not working on it.
At some point I needed to dash out & pick something up just as David texted in instructions for C to take care of some general household cleaning duties. C was concerned which should he do first? I told him do chores then get back to his project. I must have been a little short & exasperated with him because while I was out he sent "I am sorry" text. I replied that it was fine he just need to make sure his chores & school work were always done before tv time.
And I swear I could not make this up C texted me back "does this mean I can watch tv now?'
NO work on your project
*sigh*

early warning system
at 4:21ish this morning I got woken up with the news that C heard a train sound and was that a tornado so should we all pile into the bathroom....however this train sound was indeed um just a train we live close enough to to tracks to hear trains all the time. Thanks to my my budding meteorologist for looking out for us!

working my last nerve
the kiddo this morning let me tell 'ya
-asked him to take the bathroom trash out as today is trash day he manages to also throw out the lunch I had just made for him and dared to look at me crazy like it was my fault
-he managed to leave his homework including a math workbook on his dresser. Pure dumb luck that I caught it, and even more lucky for him I will drop it at school on my way to work
And as I was dropping off homework I decided to make the kid another lunch he is generally not all that fond of the school lunches served

what is wrong with you two?
I wake up early not by choice necessarily I used to love sleeping late and totally miss it but my schedule being what it is I am usually awake for the day by 6 am tops. And being that early on the weekend it's my time, the boys are both still in bed so I can grab some coffee, geek on the computer and watch bad television in peace and quiet. The dog will join me but all he does is lay by my feet and snore. I will admit to being annoyed yesterday morning before I even had the coffee on and C is dragging himself into the living room so bad mommy that I am I banished him to his room to read, play legos go back to sleep whatever it was too early to deal with 20 questions. He went grudgingly but he went but as soon as I got rid of him David decides he is ready to get up for the day. I love both of them but good grief they need to know better that to infringe on my early morning quiet

pizza
I mocked Papa Murphy's frequently in the past because why do I want to buy something that I then I have to go home and cook? and well the answer would be because their pizza is affordable and super yummy & it is super easy to swing by pick up & throw in the oven. I frequently order 1/2 pepperoni for the kid & 1/2 sausage because that is my favorite and invariably the sausage 1/2 gets devoured first and I am stuck with pepperoni..not my favorite..so I thought to hell with I am getting all sausage and what do I find C doing with the sausage??!
picking it off because he doesn't like the sausage
he is trying to drive me crazy I am convinced of it

cloak of invisibility
I am considering buying a special hat or sweater or shirt that while I am wearing it would indicate leave me alone, don't ask me any questions, tell me about your video games, ask me to fetch you anything, tell me about some car I have no interest in, offer to do a chore you are not quite up to just yet, I do not want a hug I do not want to hear about your day I don't want to talk about mine and sorry Oscar I do not want to pet you right this second. Sometimes I just need quiet and to be still and to have a thought every once in awhile that is just about me. I promise not to wear it often but when I am at the end of my rope watch for it.

"you mean you just give them the keys to your car AND the car? just seems like a bad idea to me"

how does one accidentally run?
C has been having severe allergy related issues this spring, much like last spring but worse complete with an asthma type attack, low Oxygen level etc etc...He went to the doctor on Tuesday had a breathing treatment was prescribed a few things fine okay he is improving. The nurse practitioner had also sent along a note excusing him from recess & gym for the remainder of this week which I told him included afternoon outdoors play at daycare. He was none too thrilled because what fun is it sitting down with a book when you can be up and playing with your friends, he even asked me to pick him up early because he couldn't play. I just got a phone call from him from school which to start with I shudder to see the school on caller id but luckily it was just C letting me know he "accidentally ran" but felt just fine and could he play at daycare? So beware of accidental running it can happen anywhere...
