you can pick your friends...

but not your family.
older brother D's siblings started their families well before we were even married so C is the youngest of the grandkids by about 6 years. The 2 boys are closest in age and Z quickly stepped into a surrogate older brother routine with C whenever they were together. C worships the ground Z walks on to the point that when Z left poor C would cry buckets of tears, not so much any longer. Whenever Z visited the boys would spend most of their time together either at our house or MIL's they were inseparable.
Z has hit the surly teen years, his parents divorced, they have always moved around a bunch and quite frankly he is jealous of C. Yes C is an only child he is spoiled not in a bad way but let's face it when you only have 1 they do get a whole lotta of attention...Plus MIL likes to spoil her grandkids C lives here and sees her weekly and he is still a kid he still plays with toys so yes the woman does spoil him. It's not like she does not spend $$ on the others each time Z & his sister are in town she takes them clothes shopping, gives them cash and so on. They are not deprived, neglected or ignored.
Anywho at Thanksgiving C had just had his tonsils out so again yes he was getting extra attention but by the end of their time here Z was just been ugly with C -it was just sibling sort of ugly, calling names & busting toys but C does not have a sib he doesn't quite understanding how annoying they can be-or so I've heard...
Long story short-I know I know toooooo late for that-found out Z was coming in with his dad around the 4th I asked C if he was excited to see Z and got "no not really he's just mean to me"
I hate to hear that. I know I can't force them to like each other or hang out but I do hope the boys come through to the other side and become friends again.

random Thursday

-toothpaste globules? why can the kid not get the toothpaste in his mouth instead of all over the sink? or smeared on the newspaper?
-or on the bathmat? no fun stepping in something sticky that you don't know what it is in the bathroom let me tell 'ya...
-school desks-still freakin' uncomfortable 20 some odd years later
-signs on the back of dump trucks? really you aren't responsible for breaking a windshield? who is exactly?
-can I put a sign on my car not responsible for ramming you if you pull out in front of me and slow down?
-to the idiot who pulled out in front of me and slowed down-don't do that
-glad I left myself extra time yesterday evening so I could run home and check that I had not left the stove on
-sick of the salmonella thing my Quiznos was just not the same without tomato
-the never ending question in my life where does all this laundry come from exactly?
-think Oscar needs a trip to the groomer
-I most certainly need a trip as well, wonder if I could get a sassy bandanna?
-still in desperate need of a pedicure. I making time for that this weekend!
-did anyone know kate spade made jelly sandals?
-even my detergent twitters....
-little jealous boy is off to an afternoon of baseball

queen of stats!

ok ok let's not get crazy here but I passed my first exam!!!! yea for me!!!! Yup got a 71.
Called my mom, math geek and teacher, during the break to let her know I passed, told her a 71 and I got "well what did you get wrong?"
I have a sneaky suspicion we will be going over the exam next time I call.....But that is ok I passed!!!!!!!! Should probably not get too excited I have 4 more to go.
Had to explain myself to my son as well.."so a 71 is that a B?"
no it's only a C elicited a horrified look from the boy.
I promised to do better on the next exam or this may come back to haunt me in later during the high school years

spoke too soon

so D decided he would rather grill out at the house than go out for Father's Day so that is what we did, more work on him and me for that matter but the man can grill some chicken let me tell 'ya!
We had a nice leisurely day big breakfast with gifts and cards for D, then a trip to visit with his Dad and back again home where we cooked with his mom, sister & niece.
It was an entirely enjoyable weekend caught the new Indiana Jones flick which I enjoyed, went to a new restaurant I wanted to try D gave it a thumbs down I thought it was alright but I suspect not to be added to our repertoire, dinner out with the family for C's birthday at Applebees (his choice) but you know their menu and food is not half bad for what it is. I tried to push for Vinnie & Me "but that's your favorite mommy".
shopping included the spending of birthday gift cards for the boy, Chinese food was consumed, finally watched the Departed sorry Mr Scorsese I was underwhelmed, my stats homework made sense, not sure if it got easier or it just clicked for me but I hope the understanding continues...
