bummer

a whole weekend without computer access whatever shall I do?

damn I knew we should have had another kid

can we count Oscar for our rebate? I did get the seemingly frequent question last night
"can I have a brother?" I pointed out that at this point that was unlikely and C suggested we could adopt one.
such a helpful kid...

cereal

I really should have bought stock in General Mills eight years ago-C can eat some cheerios. It seems like just yesterday he would sit on the living room floor clutching a cheerio in each chubby little hand while someone had to feed him cheerios, for whatever reason he couldn't quite grasp the fact that he could feed himself with the ones in his hands. He still eats them dry by the bagful- luckily he has figured out the whole feeding self concept-we go through a box about every 2 weeks or so. He is not a big fan of cereal in a bowl with milk, we've tried the junk cereals, healthy stuff and he just does not dig any of it. Drives me crazy grocery shopping because he'll want to try something and after a few years of buying stuff that goes to waste because he won't eat it I pretty much just walk down the cereal aisle saying no to everything coming out of the child's mouth.
He is the same way with all forms of yogurt, yo-gos, gogurt, yogurt with characters on the container
" oh mommy can we try these please I promise I will eat it..." and I fell for it every time although it did not go to waste except the go-gurt I do not do yogurt that I have to squeeze into my mouth, but more than once D & I went to work with Dora the Explorer on our yogurt cup.

ever feel like

just screaming at someone that they need to stop talking at you?

well we tried

so we went off to mass last night and good grief parking was full-people were pulling out of one parking lot to try and find a slot on the other, some were even parking at the Lutheran church next door. It was crazy and I'm sure the inside the church was SOR so we went on home. I was not going to stand for mass plus who knows what time we would have gotten out of there. I could have gone yesterday morning but that would not have taken care of C. I wish they had offered 2 services in the evening. Next year the new much larger church will be complete so it shouldn't be a problem I hope.
Now that we are mostly regular church goers those folks that just attend on the major holidays drive me nuts. The church winds up crazy busy & full with nowhere to sit. We should be exempt on Easter & Christmas.
oh and bad us we had chicken for dinner, sorry the no meat thing is a pain when in a hurry....
I was trying to remember what my parents served during Lent I know we would have fried fish, fish sticks, spaghetti without meatballs and pancakes at least once but I can not recall what other meatless dishes would be served.

sleeping in...

since we were up late watching football on Sunday I told C we could sleep in & I would drive him to school. Then yesterday as the rugrat was out of school C spent the night at his MeeMaw's and I figured oh what the heck I'll sleep in a little myself since I don't have to get anyone but myself ready.
sleeping in for me these days-
5:45 a.m.
sad huh?

happy Ash Wednesday

what is up with all the religious blogs from me lately? I am trying to not do political ones, quite a few people are doing them and doing them better than I would so I have moved onto religion I suppose.
I am at best a lapsed Catholic or even a "Cafeteria Catholic"-that term cracks me so I'll go with that one.
I was raised Catholic super Catholic if you will- another post for another time-so C is being raised mostly Catholic because it is what I am familiar with and quite frankly it means quite a lot to my father. He goes to CCD and we go to mass frequently no not every week and up to this point I have been bad about holy days of obligation such today Ash Wednesday but this year being the year C made his First Penance and will make his First Communion I am trying harder to be a better Catholic and also so when his CCD teacher asks he can say yes I went to mass. So we are off to mass this evening at 6.30, it is a day like today I wish he was going to Catholic school so he would have mass/ashes at school like my brother & I did when we were growing up and going to Catholic school so we wouldn't have to rush around grab dinner & haul to mass tonight.

obscure catholic saints

so I thought we were running a little late for mass on Saturday night-one benefit of being Catholic you can get Sunday mass out of the way on Saturday night-but when we arrived I noticed people lining up at the altar getting a blessing with 2(unlit) candles that are put together to form a V. It was the feast of St Blaise-I honestly don't remember much about why we get our throat blessed or what the big deal about St Blaise was I just remember in grammer school(well 5th grade and after for me I attended public school till then) we would get hauled up to the church in Feb. to have our throats blessed-and the candles our church used were dirty, nasty & greasy. My mother said she was more concerned with getting diseased than blessed. Supposedly at one point in history the candles were to have been lit when getting the blessing-or that might be an urban legend started by bored Catholic school students...

tragedy strikes

well out computer finally gave up the ghost, it is 8 years old which in computer years is what 4480?
it was sad day-moment of silence please...
I am still waiting on a tax form or 2 so hopefully we will get a decent return or decent enough to get a new computer soon I hate not having access at home!!!
On a happier note the NEW YORK GIANTS won!!!!!
fantastic game! we thought about calling my dad-a die hard NY Giants fan but my brother got in trouble for calling after the playoff game 2 weeks ago & waking my mother up and C while still awake he had technically been sent to bed at 9.30 so we'll call tonight.
