some good coming out of working on Saturday

I was busy bemoaning my fate stuck here on a Saturday-I'm salary it's not like I'm making overtime or anything. It is just tedious & repetitive this morning so I am not thrilled being here-still clean up from the west store closure. I took a goof off break and decided to check on availability for summer session still could not get the co-requisite lab for the biology so I changed tactics and looked at the probability & stats class which had been closed this week but as luck would have it there were open spaces so I registered! yay(I think) it will not be another wasted semester for me luckily my mother has the book & workbook the class uses(teacher editions no less) so I can save money on the text books plus she is going to loan me the calculator I'll need as well so yipee all around!
I'm putting my mother & aunt on sped dial as we speak-they are both math teachers both have taught this class it comes in handy let me tell ya!

one reason not to date a "rock star"

how many times to you have to go see them play?
Does the set list really change that much each time?

little bit o' creepy

just got an email from the place of the rat-chuck e cheese for the uninitiated-we noticed C's birthday is June 13 would you like to book a party blah blah blah..
Last party we had for him there was um 4 years ago?
I can see it now in 10 years C is turning 18 and the email comes from the chuckster wanting to book a party for the lad.
I sort of feel violated...

growing up fast

yeah he is still growing up much faster than I'd like..damn child no respect for his mother.
Last weekend he decided he needed his own alarm clock to get up by I guess he's getting too big to have mommy wake him up every day. Now I just have to fetch him once I hear the alarm go off-the slow wake up hasn't changed or anything and I suspect that will get worse as we spiral towards the dreaded teen years.
The next big stepping stone well that may be an overstatement of sorts it was just something that took me by surprise the boy was enraptured by the poster rack at wally-world he is desperate to get some to hang up in his room. I'm thinking we skip painting his room just buy a bunch of posters, get his new furniture and call it a day

fiesta time

seems like an active summer on the party circuit this year
-we have Meatfest '08 next weekend
-I need to book C's party today-his birthday is fast fast upon us! I'm still having trouble with the whole turning 8 thing is is possible? I literally just gave birth to the boy...
-looks like we in town for the 4th this year and we can finally attend an annual party our friends give. Apparently crazy amounts of money are spent on fireworks so that should be fun
- the baby shower for our niece in August sounds like it is going to be ridiculous like 75+ people ridiculous!
and this is just the stuff I can think of right now, I'm sure we will have cookouts sprinkled throughout the rest of the upcoming months plus I still really really want to put together another boil, the one we had a few years ago was great fun!

phobia of parking garages

is there such a thing? I think I have it I really do not like parking garages, nope not at all & never have. Not to the point where I avoid them or anything but I dislike them immensely.
wow google brought up over 92,000 hits on that one who knew?

random Thursday

-I do not like being awake at 4 in the morning
-neither does Oscar after grudgingly going outside he returned to curl up at my feet , go back to sleep & snore
-happy to see Project Runway returns in July
-if a class and lab are co-requisites there should be an equal number of spaces available in each
-you can have 25 years of academia blah blah blah but it does not add up you blustery fool and I am not an idiot that math does not compute-again 20 open spaces in class should equal 20 open labs
-if I hear uneducated, white & under a certain income one more time.. good grief come on you just want to call them crackers, admit it
-come on you just want to say the crackers won't vote for the black guy
-I am a woman, a liberal, a feminist, a registered democrat and still that does not mean I have to vote for the female for president
-or rather that female
-the assumption that all black people will vote for Obama annoys me too
-you gave up golf? why not something serious like eating broccoli or something?
-oh wait that was your dad-how 'bout making your bed now that is serious stuff....
-I am a bad mamma yesterday afternoon C was busy being his usual perky and repetitive self and I snapped at him-look back in the rear view mirror to see tears welling up in his eyes-just kick me in the stomach next time kiddo. Mommy is sorry.
-I miss my mommy I hate living 800+ miles away from her
-C has really great baseball coaches this season
-I want new luggage don't really need it but I have been ogling sales fliers
-I really hate waking up at 4 am oh did I say that already? I am delirious at this point

hospitals

man have they have changed-
valet parking, starbucks coffee, comfy chairs/lounge area, television, magazines from this century those pagers like you are at a restaurant waiting for a table...one of the lounges had a piano like it was a wine bar of something but I did not see any wine it was early though maybe after lunch?
I wouldn't say is was an enjoyable morning but it wasn't so bad & I almost finished my book!
I'm guessing the rain will mean no baseball practice this evening and I'll have to wait till tomorrow afternoon to see how the book ends

geek blogging

seriously I am hitting all new levels of geekdom I can now schedule when I want my blogs to publish. Convenient for someone who still does not have access to a computer at home(just a few weeks more?? right my dear brother if you are reading this).
In fact right now I am in fact sitting in a waiting room while my MIL has her colonoscopy reading either Vanity Fair or a Dean Koontz paperback I picked up last week.
myspace, facebook, blogging do I dare start up with twitter????

I am all for convience

and saving time in the morning but these just look nasty. You know it was a bunch of stoners working in r&d that came up with this gem of an idea.
I will not be purchasing these anytime soon-bleccch....

paper or plastic?

it might not be PC these days but yes generally speaking I get plastic bags at the grocery store in all fairness we pretty much reuse every one that comes through the door.
bag they had nice, big with A few weeks ago I had run into Fresh Market for a few items a lo & behold saw a great reusable with pretty vegetables & fruit on it for a mere 99 cents so I picked one up it is perfect for those mid-week shops because I can never manage to buy everything for the week in 1 trip. This was the big family weekend and when I got home my mother admired the bag-I come by my bag lady tendencies honestly. My mother has many many tote & canvas bags no really many-so I said well here I'll just put it in your suitcase right now I can pick up another one...
Ha! I have been in Fresh Market each week since the they are just out damn it!
I did buy one of the canvas bags Kroger had-the big pink one that had proceeds going towards breast cancer research, it's a good sized one and Target had some on sale last week that were larger than they appeared so I picked a couple of those up as well.
They are great and I used them this weekend still needed some plastic bags but as I said they all get reused in our household.
Now the key will be remembering to put the bags back in the car, right now they are on the kitchen counter not so much help when I run by the grocery store this afternoon...

guess I don't really want to see Tom Waits

at least not for $86+ a ticket
good grief! it's not like it's the Beatles or something....

mother's day wrap up

a lovely day all in all no I did not sleep in, up at 6 am about my usual..plopped down to watch Desk Set but in was on AMC which meant commercials luckily Funny Face was on without commercials so I enjoyed that for the upteenth time.
no eggs benedict but D did pick up Dunkin Donuts-hard to fuss at the man with double chocolate donut in your mouth!
cards plus homemade card from the boy as well as a sunflower thingy made with cut outs of C's hand, a bottle of perfume and a spa visit coming up very soon
D planned on cooking a steak dinner but MIL stepped in and took the family out to Bonefish Grill, very yummy stuff the fish is great but honestly the pomegranate martini rocks!
I managed a nap somewhere in there, phone calls to my SIL & mommy started watching some newish film I had missed called Eastern Promises it seemed pretty good but the nap won out so I'll need to watch it again.
like I said all in all a lovely day what more could I want?! Then Monday happened
I woke up around midnight sick as a dog that was not so fun, I was fasting for lab visit this morning I did break for a spot of ginger ale..
still had labs done this a.m., had to gas up the car always painful these days, ran over to school switched myself from a transfer to visiting student went to work. Found out the bio class has room but the lab does not I need both and I have to watch every day to see if someone drops the lab so I can sneak into it, the alternate class (stats) is full I really do not want to waste another semester but it might be beyond my control at this point...maybe if I wasn't such a procrastinator and had taken care of this months ago I wouldn't be in this mess right now...hmmm..do you see a correlation there kids? You would think at 40 I would stop being stupid but no no sort of cap on that is there?

monday monday

not a big fan of them but I have found absolutely no way to avoid them as of yet- if someone can figure out how & let me know that would be great!

well what do you know

one of my favorite books is now a documentary. A documentary actually playing here in little 'ol K-town.
You know with the myriad of courses that make up my almost liberal arts degree why do I have no art history classes?
While I try to figure that one at I need to figure out when I can escape by myself for an hour or two so I can see this at the cinema.
So if you like art history with a little bit of Nazis thrown in for good measure you know what to do with a free afternoon!
