I was shopping the other day at what may or may not have been the big box retailer with a red bulls eye for a logo, walked past a display of socks and thought oh how cute I need some pink stripey socks. Normally I don't do much sock wearing but with micro lab we have to wear shoes that cover not only toes but the back of the foot so I am wearing socks at least twice a week these days. So cute socks, bought socks, brought home socks, went to put socks on and they were toe-less? Or are they(shock & horror) leg warmers? What is the point? file under waste of money!

when on earth did I become a bag lady?
seriously it took me two trips to get to the car this morning-it's ridiculous.
1. my purse. It's a larger purse I carry a lot of crap, I can get by with the cute little purse for an evening out but normal everyday I need a bag. Even when C was a baby I carried a diaper bag & a purse. I tried the whole toss everything in the diaper bag it did not work for me. And really the idea of a Kate Spade or Coach crack me up, these are diaper bags people! have you seen what comes out of babies-from either end-it is not pretty and my utilitarian green canvas diaper bag worked fabulous, plastic coated and easy to clean. It was also unisex so David did not need a special "Daddy" bag
2. My cute Nine West tote(courtesy of Ross) with my textbook, notebook & binder plus some water for my lecture this morning.
3. another tote a freebie from a movie studio(courtesy of John and his swag purge at the Christmas party) with my lab text, binder, lab coat & goggles for class this evening.
4. a cute Ralph Lauren tote(also courtesy of Ross) with enough junk I probably don't need to be lugging around but an equal amount of junk I very well may need so I carry it to work every day
5. and last but not least a World Market canvas tote with my lunch, something to drink and my stash of plastic silverware

I am just not that interesting..
so after coming up with 25 random facts on facebook I got tagged for another 8 by Random Ramblings ack! okay here goes and yes I will most likely repeat some but I think I can manage more than a few new randomnesses(hmm spell check saying this word is good)
1. when we were dating my horoscope one Sunday read something along the lines of the letters D & Y will have significance in your life. Coincidentally David's initials. It was a NY paper so I don't think he paid anyone off or anything but I wish I had saved that paper. That was not the reason I married him.
2. I am horrible about letting friendships fade however I must make friends with similar sorts of people because they weren't exactly keeping in touch either. I love FB because I have reconnected with folks. With some we have picked up right where we left off, others whom I never had anything much to do with in high school seem to be becoming fast new friends and a few other I would have considered some of my really good friends are content not to rekindle much at all.
3. I am addicted to Target. Seriously I bet other customers would recognize me. hell if I walked in wearing red & khaki people would totally think I worked there.
4. for as much trashy television that I like to watch I really like to read a lot. In fact I frequently have 2 books going at once except when school is in session I find books to distracting and switch to magazines
5. I wish I had been able to stay home longer with C when he was a baby but I think I would have been crap at the SAHM gig. I was blessed with a helpful MIL(even in all her craziness) and a husband who spent a year as Mr Mom
6. I only moved down south for a year, just out of curiosity, A year in TN. That was almost 17 years ago I suppose I'll stay
7. I absolutely love going out to breakfast or brunch and rarely do. Life gets in the way all to frequently.
8. my favorite Saturdays are the ones where we spend the day in pajamas and watch bad movies. Sometimes I think I could be totally happy as a hermit.
not going to tag anyone specific but please join in the reindeer games if you wish

and so it begins
C is on the verge of becoming a clothes horse. He loves shopping for new clothes & shoes. We can go shopping for a suit and he finds 3 or 4 tee shirts he absolutely needs as well. For a very long time I would just shop for him but as he is getting older & bigger he has to come along to try things on plus generally speaking let him pick out what he wants to wear. I have never understood his desire for tee shirts that have something snarky to say about a sibling mainly because well he doesn't have one and at this point is not going to get one but whatever floats your boat I suppose. Anywho I have visions of just a few years from now dropping him and the mall with pricey shopping excursions to Buckle & Hollister or whatever happens to be trendy at that point in time. Just this past weekend his MeeMaw was discussing how she was just going to get him his own credit card so he can go shopping. Funny except she was serious, David contends there is probably already a credit card with the kid's name on it somewhere at this point. Regardless I thought we had a couple of years but this morning I got a request for a specific Northface jacket he was wanting.....let the shopping games begin

the cat whisperer
he lives across the street. And he walks his cats or rather lets the cats stroll around the yard on a fairly regular basis. It is really amazing the cats seem very well behaved and content to traipse around the front yard with no real evidence that they would bolt off. Cars don't seem to bother them and even the time Oscar managed to escape the fence they just hung out and ignored him. Oscar of course ran off to roam the neighborhood..he's a social sort of pup.
