woohoo spring break

gee spring break was a whole lot more fun back in the olden days when it meant I had a week off. While I have no school this week all that just translates into I can work complete days during week and have next Saturday off...of course my dream of a weekend off not so much as the dreaded inventory is scheduled for next Sunday! It just figures doesn't it?! I'll save my diatribe on just how much I hate doing inventory for next weekend.

the bestest cake in the whole wide world

carrot cake seriously. I have no idea who first thought hey let's shred this vegetable and bake it in a cake but sheer brilliance I tell you. I freakin' love carrot cake but not with nuts & raisins that just mucks up the cake. Who needs all that crap in their cake? in my trail mix or yogurt fine okay but leave it outta my cake. And believe you me me carrot cake without the nuts & raisins can be difficult to find. The European bakery I worked out in high school may have made the very best carrot cake ever. Well they made the best cakes ever anyway but the carrot was my favorite, although the mocha was good and this another cake I have never seen or heard from anywhere ever again was a furstpuchler, don't know if that is spelled right but it was a yellow cake with layers of chocolate, strawberry & vanilla butter cream an layer of pineapple preserves and maybe raspberry preserves with a hard chocolate shell. I take that back I found it in a cafe in Mainz Germany but made with ice cream instead of butter cream.
So over all the bake sale at the school carnival tonight was pretty crappy a surprise as the bake sales over at the Primary school were always pretty amazing. Perhaps if they were a little less concerned with having an International flair they would have had a better showing?! I made my spice cake & a basil swirl bread which was a new recipe & looked good, so good I might have to make us one this weekend, after I buy another rolling pin I could not find ours and rolling out dough with a soda can is doable but not so easy.
Right the carrot cake C decided he need to buy something to bring home to daddy and he settled on the carrot cake and I am glad he did it doesn't have nuts & raisins...yummm

am I getting sick here or what?

I really wonder which is worse being sick and getting it over and done with or this quasi just not quite feeling right, sort of like I may or may not be coming down with something...you know the hint of a sore throat, kind of a headache, generally rundown maybe on the verge of a stuffy nose. Don't get me wrong I don't want to be sick at all, I so do not have time for sickness but these vague symptoms are just annoying and have crept up several times in the past 3 weeks or so now. Guess I will load up on vitamin C and have a hot toddy before I go to bed tonight and hopefully knock whatever this may or may not be out before it starts!

is my rubber room ready yet?

because I am still utterly & completely losing my mind!
the writing assignment I furiously knocked out last Wednesday night....it's not due till this Thursday as in 2 days from now. How did I manage to be a week off yet again? I should be grateful it was a week early and not a week late but still???!!!

an anniversary of sorts

David & I went on our first date 14 years ago today. We saw Page/Plant on their '95 tour. Not too shabby as far as first dates go but who woulda thunk we'd be getting ready to celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary next month?

happy monday!

C is student of the week this week. Not too clear on all that will entail but for starters he had to make a poster about himself this past weekend which lead to the inevitable the last family portrait we had made was almost 5 years ago discussion. But I found some pictures he could use and all was right with the world-or at least our little part of it anyway-project completed. I drove C to school this morning so his poster would not get messed up or forgotten on the bus. Care to guess what was the one thing he forgot to bring to school? Luckily we live relatively to close to the school so I dashed back home & dropped it back off for him at the office.

he may need stronger glasses

because this picture of me really looks a lot more like Dora the Explorer in my opinion

be careful what you wish for

C has wanted a sibling for quite awhile now, an older sibling at that and he kind of sort of has one these days. His 15 year old cousin has recently moved to town & he and his father(JJ) are living at MIL's house. This will throw the boys together often more often than C likes right now. At one time he worshipped the ground Z walked on not as much lately. David had the both boys here yesterday and while they got along mostly there was wrestling and I believe a punch to the face at some point as my son as a bruise just above his nose this morning...of course the back story evidently includes an "accidental" kick someplace C should not have been kicking and accident or not I told C he has got to expect a punch if he is kicking there. So poor C has got to learn how to be a little brother and fast in order to keep up. Although judging by sizing in a few years C will easily be bigger than Z and will be able to kick his a** it's just a matter of teaching the boy how to be a little more devilish & sneaky for a few years.
