somewhere along the way I managed to misplace my sunglasses, no biggie it's not like they were expensive or anything and I have a spare pair in my car or I did till I left them on the counter this morning. So after I dropped C at daycare-yes Knox County schools are still out on holiday break-I ran by Walgreen's found markdown Christmas items, Valentine's Day items but no sunglasses, I was told they aren't out on display yet. huh? It's still sunny out even in January...
Went to the mall this afternoon something I am loathe to do but it's a necessary evil every now & again. I took a short cut through one of the department stores and was amused that in the cosmetic section they were broken into cliques, the cool young & hipster cosmetic girls in one area, the older lady cosmetics clerks in another and well fragrance ladies a clique all onto their own. As I exited the department store I saw an older gentleman with a small Victoria's secret bag and I thought oh how sweet he's bought his wife something but he marched up to the counter and doused himself with a female perfume so all bets are off about who the bag of lingerie was for!

back to the grind
well I was at work Monday & Wednesday but neither were 8 hour shifts at the asylum and come to think of today will be a little shy of 8 hours as well-the downside to vacations I don't want to work anymore but that pesky mortgage company is expecting some money as is a few other places so here I am.....goofing off in fact which considering all that is going on is not the wisest use of my time. The big news hit the streets so to speak while I was gone they are closing one of the stores-music industry being what it is and all. We are hoping to make it a good thing by making the original location bigger & better than ever before and I am hopeful but and let me put this diplomatically there are challenges working for a small business with certain types of people and let's just leave it at that.
So I need to actually do some work or maybe get some more coffee..

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
we had a little New Year's soiree last night and honestly the door should have read quarantined I think everyone was in some stage of illness-recovering, full blown & on the verge instead of champagne we could have handed out NyQuil. I have been in denial myself thinking it was just allergies from travel but I woke up at 4 after a mere 2 hours of sleep with a head full of gunk and a non-stop sneezing fit that must have lasted about 5 minutes. Regardless it was a fun get together and I hope one & all enjoyed themselves! Of course I made too much food-in all fairness I thought we were having more people specifically kiddies who can pack it away luckily D's family is coming over to help with leftovers today as well as a pork roast, greens and black-eyed peas to celebrate the New Year and then all of the leftover leftovers will go with me to work for the scavengers to pick over.
Managed to get the champagne out in time-which quite frankly I just hate the stuff oh well can't fight tradition-I completely forgot all of the noise makers and popper things as we were too busy making fun of Dick Clark-I know we are bad people but really let the poor man retire already!
So not exactly starting the new year bright eyed & bushy-tailed this morning and just like the end of the year I have a sink full of dirty dishes, laundry piled up, bags that still need unpacking but I find myself feeling hopeful for the upcoming year and wishing all joy & peace and prosperity-I could use some of that myself!

road tripping the return
so we are back in rainy 'ol Knoxville. I was very happy to be back sleeping in my own bed next to my dear sweet hubby. When we are at my folks house I usually wind up sharing a bed with C this is better now that he doesn't snore so much but he tends to be a bed hog, kind of cute when he was 20 lbs not so much now that he is 83 lbs! My Dad is talking about cleaning up some space, getting rid of an old couch & buying a day bed in the new year which will be nice.
We tried to go to bed early Friday night in anticipation of the long journey ahead and it was fine till about 2 a.m. when C started tossing and turning which involved thrashing his whole body about, grunting and stealing the covers I threatened him repeatedly but it was a crummy night of sleep regardless. As I related this story to D the next day and C pipes up with his head & legs hurt-gotta love those growing pains! but I pointed out that he needs to say something next time so I can give him some tylenol to help!
The drive back was happily uneventful we were making good time so D decided to push on through normally we stop for a hour or so to have lunch and get out of the car but we grabbed fast food & ate on the go which made the trip only 12 hours instead of 14, we made really good time.
Around 6 C wanted to put a call into grandpa to find out how the Patriots/Giants game was going-grandpa being the die hard Giants fan-so I had to let C know the game had not started yet and grandpa was out at a party anyway.
