this child has it bad

he has found football.
The Army/Navy game from 2000 but football nonetheless.
Good grief!

battle of the bands

well really just dueling CD players. When we were first together D & I would usually go to sleep with music playing somewhere along the way we had stopped by started back up again a year or so ago, neither of us a big fans of complete silence when trying to fall asleep. From birth C has gone to sleep with music as well not just the lullaby stuff in fact first home from the hospital it was the soothing sounds of Mr Iggy Pop that the boy enjoyed. Now the dreaded Wiggles got some play as did Nickoldeon stuff, the Kidz Bop Christmas was ok but not so much in the middle of April, Green Day got heavy rotation for awhile as did AC/DC & Aerosmith and an '80s mixtape of sorts-what can I say we have eclectic music tastes that we have passed along to C.
D was third shifting it last night so after I locked up I turned on the player in the living room I believe he has a Pulp cd in rotation currently. With doors closing & car driving off C woke up briefly but did what he always does turned his music on in his room & went back to bed, his current cd of choice the WWE entrance theme songs-all growly extreme rock type stuff drowning out my Britpop. Bad enough except he can press some button his player that winds up repeating 1 song over and over and over I woke up to that at 2.30am as well and Oscar superpug barking about something or another. The dog knows when D is not home and is ever vigilant barking at each and everything real or imagined.
Needless to say I am hoping for a nap today

can you not follow the rules?

one rule they have at C's daycare/summer camp (what ever you want to call it it's both really with kids from infants up to 5th grade) for the parents is that you never leave your car running unattended, not exactly an outrageous rule a good one in fact, God forbid a car gets put into gear and runs someone down. These things happen speaking as someone who at the age of 4 maybe 5 put a running car in reverse and backing into a tree totalled the car with her infant brother in the back seat. In all fairness I think my Mom should not have left us in a running car but it was the 70's not a crime back then now they could take your kids away and I only blame my Mom because my punishment was not getting to go the circus that year oh the scars run deep on that one...
Anywho one crazy Mom this morning walking her kid in leaves her car running...
C busily whispers to me about her son-blah blah he is the crazy one who is always throwing things I look at the child who is drinking a soda. drinking a soda at 8 am! It's not like C doesn't drink soda but not every day and certainly not at 8 in the morning!
It's no wonder the kid is crazy he is hyped up on soda and his mother can't follow directions..

on a happier note

Happy 42nd Anniversary to my Mom & Dad!
not that they read my blog or any blogs in fact but I do want to thank them for being a shinning example of matrimony. When it came time for me to wed I think I had realistic expectations of marriage, I not only loved my hubby but respected him and knew he respected me, I knew he would be the man I would like to raise a child with and grow old with.

well that is just crappy

my SIL found her storage shed robbed
not much of a welcome to Chicago even crappier when you know they are living on a Navy Base! Shouldn't you feel safer?
and she is right it is not the stuff but the memories not to mention the violated feeling
people s**k!

UPDATE:
Luckily the were not robbed the movers were idiots and their things were left in Florida over a month ago! some stuff has been gone through but she does not know what is missing or not. The positive was they were not robbed in their new neighborhood!

my endorsement

oh for soap-body wash specifically. Normally I am not so very brand loyal, whatever I have a coupon for or is on sale or has been marked down at Target-seriously their end caps are a treasure trove of sale items!
back to the soap a fateful day I don't remember when I bought it but Dove's refreshing waterlily & mint very very nice stuff, it really does refresh and help me to wake up with it's clean scent & breeze fanning tingly feeling on the skin(something D found disturbing but that's another story for another day perhaps).
I was unhappy to find myself out of it this morning need to run by the store this afternoon more importantly I think the coffee is finished brewing....

finally got the kid out of the house

In the past I have complained about the lack of kiddies in our neighborhood. C is constantly peering out his window trying to figure out if either kid he plays with is around and available for play.
MIL on the other hand has kiddies in her neighborhood one kid lives across the street and C finally met & made friends with him this weekend plus I know of another boy that C was in 1st grade with lives a few houses down the road. I have mentioned more than once that it would be ok for him to go out & play with them, now trips over to mee-maw's house are usually full of going shopping for new toys/games, playing video games & watching movies, eating her out of house and home-generally speaking I have no problem with the indulgence but since he is over there 2 afternoon/evenings a week this summer while I am in class I was glad to hear yesterday she let him out to play. That is after calling D to make sure it was ok and she still walked him across the street but out to play it was indeed! The boys apparently had a rip roaring good time and C came back safe and sound and in one piece having had a great time with plans for more playtime tomorrow.

looks like we will trek North after all

normally we head up to CT for the 4th for a week or so to visit with my parents-oh who am I kidding we bring C to visit whether D & I are there is immaterial.
With school & a few other factors I did not think we would be able to work it in this summer. Felt a little bad about it but the parents did get to see their grandson in April when he made his first communion and I think the Christmas trip might be extended a little this year so not a huge deal and one I thought I had conveyed to my mom.
Apparently I did no I got last night "so when are you coming up?"
Oddly enough I think C & I will be able to manage it for the end of July we have a small window of opportunity that might just work. I am just waiting to confirm when my final will be-can't miss that!-and hopefully we will have firm plans by tomorrow
Poor D will be stuck here at home as will Oscar(superpug extraordinaire)...but on the plus side we have central air my parents not so much-end of July you figure out the weather report..
But yay anyway it'll be good to see them!

the family funerals

with Missy & Jenn losing an aunt this weekend I have been thinking about funerals and how very hysterical some of my family funerals have been through the years. We have been fortunate and not had so very many but the ones we have had you could sell tickets-no really.
However the more I thought about(and laughed) and considered blogging about some I realised the only one who reads my blog that would find them funny would be my brother because well
a) he's been to all of them and
b) he knows all the players
but then I remembered Chris might enjoy one as his brother who was my brother's best friend in high school came along to my grandmother's funeral. Why you would purposefully drive to NY to go the funeral of a woman I don't think he ever met? I'm sure there was a reason at the time but it escapes me a this point. Patrick jumped right into the receiving line with the rest of us confusing more than one relative wondering who the red headed kid was. Hell he might have even wound a pallbearer for all I remember!
The funeral home was in Queens run by the stereotypical NY Italian guy Vinnie or something equally ethnic sounding and for added flavor the wake going on in the other room was like a bad episode of the Sopranos and perhaps we should leave it there. I'm not even going to start in on the relatives that neither my hubby or my SIL have even met yet. Ah well they married in too late to escape now..

where is

Coffee county in TN?
I want to move there so I too can have Coffee written across the bottom of my license plate.
