voting 101

I was glad that I managed to swing by the town hall and get my early voting in yesterday. Last year I brought C along with me to vote so I made sure to pick him up yesterday and drag him along. I think it is important for him to learn how important this task is even if it seems like you are just voting against someone rather than for someone! Quite frankly I remember going with my parents to vote at an early age and how excited I was to finally vote for the first time even if it was for Dukakis...and might I add I am the "liberal sheep" of the family my poor father wonders every year where he went wrong
-C's first concern was would we get home in time for a snack before Tae Kwan Do-must have your priorities set you know.
-I believe he is an Obama fan he was very concerned with finding his name on the sample ballot and could he tell me who I should vote for so I told him no it was my decision
-then C asked who I was voting for and I shouldn't vote for the girl. I explained that well voting for a girl was just fine however I just don't like the particular girl running so no I would not vote for a girl but a boy this time.
-a boy? are you going to vote for me C wondered I told him I thought there was a height requirement so he wasn't eligible
-then he started in about CT having short people and I am still not sure what that connection would be about
-as I finished he had a lightbulb moment-oh so that's why you and Daddy watch MSNBC so much
So in the grand scheme of things sometimes my vote actually does mean something!

what are you giving up for Lent?

odd the blog is gone now but it was about C's plan to give up being crazy for Lent. again just curious what giving up being crazy for 40 days is going to be like exactly...

3 card monte?

or were they playing 5 card stud? fencing stolen diamonds? no trading pokemon cards...
When I got to daycare to pick up C yesterday I did not see him at his usual haunts-the computer, at the game system or Lego area or even the foosball table. He was indeed in the play kitchen area sitting at a table with one of his buddies perusing cards with a very guilty look on his face and as soon as I was spotted the other kid started scooping up his cards into his Target bag. I am not sure what the guilty face was about, I asked C if he traded for anything good-no I don't have any good cards at all was the response I got.
huh? he has literally thousands of these cards all over his room I pointed out that maybe if he would organized them just a little he could find some of his strong cards that were worth trading.
He thought that was an ok idea but could we go to the store this weekend so he could buy some more?

this is an ex-parrot!

so we've had a murder ok maybe manslaughter or um actually birdslaughter at the house. I believe Oscar may or may not have attacked a bird. Oddly enough he did not go for the kill but barked at it wildly and kept jumping over it near as I can tell. So I'm not sure if he attacked and then did not know what to do with it or just prefers the taste of Iams lamb & rice to wild bird.
I did not want to deal with it last night so I surrounded it with various sundry junk hoping to confound the pug but of course first thing this morning he went right for it so I had to dispose of the little critter.
Beautiful plumage though

bottom of the barrel

the writer's need to go back to work. Most of the shows I watch have run out, luckily there are new episodes of No Reservations, Project Runway is still going with Top Chef to follow. I have been watching October Road & Cashmere Mafia mainly because nothing else is on and they are not so bad but I think they run out soon as well. Being home for a good part of the week I started trolling about for something new to watch so God help me I have found the worst shows ever-The Real Housewives of Orange County-really?! It's is awful so awful in fact I sat through 2 episodes and already have the DVR set to record the Real Housewives of NY. Maybe I should just set the DVR to record everything on Bravo TV?
I think the winner is Celebrity Rehab on VH1-even if you are a B-list or even C-list celebrity why would you choose to put the lowest moments of your life on reality tv? on VH1 no less?
