the phone being still just a phone

we still have unlimited texting which means I can still attempt some of my online stuff via SMS. Needless to say it is a wee bit trickier and I continue to check into some pretty darn wacky stuff on foursquare. I am still fixing it when I get to a computer or wifi accessibility for my ipod touch but I am considering just letting it go and seeing the weird adventures I can dredge up with SMS

kids & cell phones

have been very much against this idea for quite some time in spite of countless pleas from my almost 10 year old..he has no real need for one or does he???? if his goofy father would answer his cell this morning I might not be rethinking my position.

okay already I admit it I want a damn iphone!

as my friends warned me the ipod touch is just a gateway gadget and they were right! While I love the touch I am at the mercy of wifi capabilities.....which makes me wonder why the whole world isn't wifi yet?! bastards..anywho wanting an iphone but we are not switching phone carriers which leads me to wonder if when our contract is up at the end of the year can I convince David that I absolutely need and hafta have whatever geek phone of the moment that sprint is offering knowing all to well that I don't absolutely hafta have one I just really really really want one

the cell phone

my kid does not need one hell he is only 9 who is he going to call? C is however been absolutely salivating at the thought of having his own cell phone for about the 3 years now. He knows kids that do indeed have one and have had one since kindergarten but I have placed a unilateral ban which includes the possibility his grandmother purchasing him one until we deem necessary-the teen years or perhaps when extracurricular activities are such that he is in need of a ride or something. C is however slowly trying to take over my cell phone by texting his father & cousin, calling his grandmother etc..the amusing thing is when we are out running errands he is increasingly the one with MY cell phone in his pocket in case HE gets a text or call

is there a do not call number for cell phones?? because I am sick and tired of the automated junk calls! The wait is entirely too long to try and get a real person so you can be removed from their call lists likewise waiting for the end of the spiel just to press whichever random number they have picked for you to press so you won't get their damned annoying phone calls any longer and that is assuming that is effective... The calls from CA have stopped but the ones from Washington DC started today. However I did press #2 so maybe they'll be from MI tomorrow

yes dear I am going to blog about it....

we got new phones yesterday. You don't even need to go to the store any longer you can order phones online and they ship them to your door and then program them with one easy phone call. You can even get them free if you promise to give them your first born or something like that could be a kidney not too clear about the details David ordered them. So new phones I got the pretty green one going to miss my pretty pink phone but I like the green one, David calls to program the phones starts with mine very easy boom done hands me my phone and then I spend the next hour transferring my contact list I think I could have done it online but that involved purchasing something and they already get enough of my money. David then moves onto to his own phone and they could not get it to load or work could not find a signal who the hell knows. Customer service tries a few things and then finally transfers him to another department maybe they could help. At that point I suggested that since he was calling from his phone perhaps that was why the new phone would not load his number properly.
I was then told not to blog about this.

phone system

in this day and age it is unusual for my desk phone to ring here at work. Most of my vendors rely on email to get a hold of me and all personal calls go to my cell phone.
If it is before business hours and my phone rings it is generally one of the owners or a co-worker.
Any other time of the day the phone ringing startles me for some goofy reason and I kind of don't like to answer it because who the hell knows who it is or what they want-no caller id on the system.
Another annoying aspect is the phone system itself somehow or another a million years ago when we got this I got assigned the receptionist line so when ever you dial into my extension it says transferring to receptionist it also means when lazy people call in and don't know what extension they need the call gets transferred to me. If someone does not answer their line here an option to transfer to you got it the receptionist is available. I get lots of annoying calls ranging from selling office supplies to idiots who well let us just leave it at idiots. There is a fine line with how bitchy I can be I mean the system does seem to think I am the receptionist...I do not however get flowers on receptionist day.
Sadly I can tell when a call has rolled over from another extension and I have taken to not answering the calls. We all have voice mail leave a damn message that is what it is set up to do.
