a post over at feed the monkeys got me to thinking about how kids can earn a bit of extra cash. Growing up girls babysat and the boys would mow lawns in the summer, shovel driveways & walks in the winter-I grew up in the north we had snow like real snow not a few flakes that cause everyone to stock up on milk, bread & toilet paper and cancel school-and they would have paper routes.
These days it is called childcare and lawn care and we never get any snow in Knoxville so no need to have your driveway shoveled, the paper delivery starts at like 3 in the morning. All of this kid stuff has turned into big business and been taken over by the grown-ups.
Not too worried about C he gets a weekly allowance but more importantly he almost always manages to score $20 out of his Mee-Maw each and every time he sees the woman. We live less than 5 miles from the woman so on any given day he usually has more cash on hand than D & I combined.

When I was growing up in Knoxville, I would haul hay, shovel manure, and feed cows to earn extra money. There aren't hardly any square bales of hay anymore and most kids are scared of cows so that cuts those jobs out. If kids could earn money by playing video games, they would have it made!
