I mentioned webkinz a few months ago-for the uninitiated they are beanie bears meet build a bear. Stuffed animals that come with a computer code so you can log on register your pet, name them play computer games and earn money to buy them food and disco balls, a car etc. Smart marketing in my opinion you can also buy toy clothing, charm bracelets, trading cards all with codes of their own to add to your cyberlife. It appeals to both genders with a wide range of animals to choose from Connor is heavy into the dogs and started up with this stuff last fall he only has maybe 6-very small number compared with my nieces. Sometime around the holidays over breakfast C started with well Esmeralda(names changed to protect the innocent or stupid in this case) says that Miss Birdy(the welcoming bird of webkniz world) turned into a vampire and killed all of the webkinz. Try explaining that in fact that would be a bad marketing plan and would not happen or would it?? the kiddos would have to get a whole new crop of animals...
We are still without computer at home and a few mornings ago it was brought up that all of his pets would be dead by now because he could not log on and feed them, play with them and such-again because someone told him this helpful information. I assured him they would still be alive and was then instructed to check on them from work which I did this morning all animals intact and "alive". Incredibly enough one of them does have an expiration date of next December but I need to investigate if that can be thwarted with play or do they indeed expire? what a gimmick if they do.
