requisite new year's post

Happy 2011 I hope to hell it is better than 2010! The year was not all bad but there were some pretty low lows that hope & pray do not get repeated. I don't do resolutions but there are quite a few things about myself and my life I would like to change for the better so good luck to me on that!
I hope & pray for a good, happy and healthy year for my family & friends & those friends I have not met IRL. While our family is needing to cocoon, nest, recuperate & regroup I hope that we will be back to normal very soon.

so have I missed out on the good luck?

I have lived in the south long enough to know to serve black-eyed peas & green in New Year's Day for good luck and I had bought both for dinner. David had planned on defrosting & cooking some ribs we had but at one point his mother offered to take the family out to celebrate JJ's birthday so no one would have to cook on New Years which was a great plan but JJ(BIL) was working all day so it didn't really pan out. The upshot being we had not taken ribs out of the freezer and I thought no big deal I will run down to the store and pick up some Cornish game hens but then I was so incredibly lazy all day that that plan didn't pan out so much either. We wound up noshing on leftover appetizers from the night before and JJ dropped off some wings on his way home from work it was one of those famous FFY(fend for yourself) nights my parents would sometimes schedule when we were growing up. It worked but no greens or black-eyed peas were consumed. I am cooking my big New Year's Day meal today I hope a 4 day window is okay in the luck department.

merry happy new year!

I am a loss for something retrospective or inspirational & wonderful to write.
2008 was a year like any other it had its ups & downs I laughed, I cried and now it's 2009 and I expect some more of the same. I don't really buy into the whole resolutions thing honestly I would like to lose weight, be a nicer person, be more organized and less of a procrastinator, see more of my friends, spend more time with family every day of the week not just for New Year's! I am indeed hopeful for the year ahead the good, the bad, the challenges and the fun stuff, school, dishes and even laundry, friends, family, travel and the days spent home in our pajamas watching Lance Henriksen Sci-Fi channel. I wish for hope, health and prosperity for my friends & family and I'm kind of curious to see what the New Year brings but now, now it's time for a nap.
