fun on the fourth weekend
and indeed the whole weekend. The past several years we have been up in CT for the 4th so this was a change for us. We went from having a plethora of parties to none to sort of a bunch again but landed with just the right amount of festivities!
Cookout on the 4th was great fun big thank you to the Douglas' for hosting! C & I lucked out on the ride home we caught some of the big fireworks show that had been rain delayed. Much oohing & aahing and the realization we are going to have to take him to see fireworks dare I say it maybe the dreaded Boomsday? I am not fond of crowds or sitting in traffic so we'll see about that one...
Saturday wound up hanging out not doing anything of note. BIL(JJ) came into town with his son our nephew Z so it was a boys drinking Scotch listening to music fest at our house. I escaped with my book and went to bed early.
Sunday was the crawfish boil at MIL's house- and it is actually my BIL's "show" it seems to be turning into an annual thing which is great! The Shrimp Dock is wonderful one stop shopping everything down to the spices is purchased there-they also provide the pot & gear to cook with.
This summer we did buy more corn and sausage next year we need more shrimp and we need to get started cooking earlier-remember kids a watched pot never boils!!!!
Cute trick to keep away the bugs put cloves into lemon slices and scatter around the table-it really works well. I'd like to take credit on that clever idea but I read it in a magazine or somewhere just this past week. Thanks to Jenn! I recreated her chocolate eclair cake and it was the hit of the dessert table! and so very easy to make!

Look at that spread! I'm so sorry I missed out...I had been lamenting it all day. :(
Man... I didn't see anything like that up in Wisconsin... all we saw were cheese turds. Did I mention that Bob's lactose intolerant? Um, yeah.
never fear I think it will be an annual event, we will not however being calling it "fishfest" because that just conjures up oh well nevermind...
and missy no cheese in sight the only dairy was seasoned butter for the corn bob will be safe
Dadgum that looks like some good eatin! I've always wanted to try that. Seems like we just fry everything around here.
it is really easy Byron! if you plan on one just head to the shrimp dock they will take care of everything
Your spread looks a lot better than our 4th of July spread at the funeral - beef 'n gravy and sloppy joe samiches. I would've much rather eaten shrump! Oh and I didn't lie. The chocolate eclair cake is super simple! I am glad everyone enjoyed it.
