operation green thumb update

things are still alive yet no actual vegetables seem to be growing per se...ah well trying some miracle grow today let's see if that helps, fingers crossed I am not ready to throw in the towel just yet!

now I remember why I hate wearing glasses

I got my first pair of contacts when I graduate high school in um well 1985 and have not worn glasses with any sort of regularity since then. Last year I did get a updated pair of back up glasses but since insurance wasn't paying I went for cheap cheap cheap which meant basically coke bottle glasses but I like the frames a bunch and they were just for emergency purposes. Right in the middle of the holidays and David's medical crises my contacts were giving me fits and I could not wear them for much longer than an hour or two at a time and time was not something I had a lot of so I quit wearing contacts altogether. The glasses oddly do not bother like they did years ago except the whole fogging up when you come in & out of a building in the heat or cold it drives me nuts! Can't they invent glasses that don't do that?

garden is not the only thing growing

my hair is starting to grow back in, kind of anyway....
not all over & it is of course all white growing in the bald patches but it is hair and that is why hair color was invented. I won't be hat or wig free for some time but at least things seem to be moving in the right direction.

operation green thumb update

the spices have seen better times so I am not expecting much out of those, tomato plant is growing & looks good but nothing that looks like a tomato is happening, cucumber bush the same look good no actual vegetables in sight but the pepper plants I see a tiny pepper starting to sprout!!

not quite 23 anymore

hell not even 33 for that matter but the Psychedelic Furs show last night was fun! What was not smart was to be standing & dancing in front of the speaker I am so hoping the ringing in my right ear goes away soon, and someone remind me to buy ear plugs before I go to another show!

too much social media?

the blog, facebook, twitter and now google+ ?! It's too much pressure trying to not repeat myself in one or more of the outlets, let alone to try and be witty. I'd stress about myspace too it I could recall the last time I actually logged onto myspace or if I could even remember my password.

everything still alive & well & growing!

executive decision

was made to go to the healthy kids cooking class at our local Earth Fare. C was a bit peeved with me at first but he spends more than enough time with his head in video games, the television and the computer so an hour at free cooking class was an idea I was insisting upon. Going in I told him if he had a horrible time that he would never have to go again....minutes in he decided he had was having a great time and would like to go again! It's an every other week thing so I have already entered it onto my calendar, I also discovered the alternate weeks there is a class for adults so I have entered those into my calendar as well. Earth Fare is indeed an awesome grocery!

the three day weekend

oh thank God we have one I love when holidays fall correctly...in fact can we just change the dates on all holidays so they always coincide with a weekend?

well I hate to see the moving truck in the driveway

next door is a rental property and for the past year we have been fortunate to have friendly, quiet, well mannered neighbors who most importantly have a son just a few years younger than C. They were fast & furious friends and playmates we will be sad to see them leave. And sit in fear of the next family that might move in....ya never know with rentals!
