adventures at the laundromat

first off all I had to find on. Last week once I discovered the washer not functioning as it should I went on a quest for a place to do my laundry as the only local laundromat I knew of got bulldozed a few years ago to make way for a strip center that sits 1/2 empty. First I searched(in vain) for a cleaners that did laundry haha. Luckily one of them did know of a laundromat that had just opened and was close to my house. Now MIL has graciously offered to do our laundry for us and I did take her up on several loads this week but I didn't feel comfortable bring over all 9 millions pounds of dirty clothes that we seem to accumulate so I held some back for today when our washer was going to be fixed. Except not because it will be cheaper to buy an entire new washer rather than having the old one fixed..doesn't it figure?! So I carted 4 loads of laundry off this afternoon and got them all done in less than 2 hours which we be the only benefit to going to a laundromat. I was pleased it was fairly clean, well the machines were it did look like someone had gotten a hair cut and forgot to sweep up after themselves. Being late afternoon on a very sunny Friday I had the place to myself the entire time which gave me a chance to read in peace and quiet. Only got screwed out of a dollar with one faulty dryer and luckily had just enough quarters to get the job done. One load of shorts & capri pants were a little damp so I just popped them in the dryer when I got home. Technically I could have dried everything at home but who wants to lug 4 loads of wet clothes around?

washer repair '09

8:00am-have a nine hour window in which to sit watch for the repairman
9:30am-having Internet issues call cable company problem is on their end
9:45ish am-try to call Sears and narrow window get automated response you have a call scheduled for sometime between 8-5 today
11:09am-catching up on my DVR television shows
11:55am-annoyed thinking that I could have gotten in at least a 1/2 day at work by now if I had been given a shorter window for estimated arrival of repairman by Sears
12:32pm-repairman ETA 1/2 hour
12:53pm-repairman arrives
12:55-think it is the same guy that came out last year I guess this must be his route
1:15pm-will be cheaper to buy a new washing machine rather than fixing it
1:17pm-crap that is annoying
1:25pm- have a little laugh to myself. Each time we visit my parents I always do laundry before leaving and my father jokes that we bring our dirty laundry with us. This time not so much of a joke
1:38pm-whle my MIL has been a huge help doing our laundry I am going to go to a laundromat and get several loads done this afternoon after all the day is pretty much a bust anyway

laundry dilemma

a dilemma because I can not do laundry....ironic huh? Washing machine is not working so well and of course the soonest Sears can come is Friday so what's a girl to do? I must say I am once again perplexed by the 8 hour window they gave me. In this day age with cell phones, computers, gps, chip under peoples skin why in the high holy hell can they not give me a shorter window of time???? I understand why they cannot be exact but an 8 hour option?!
A shout out to MIL for offering to do any laundry we need doing this week beacuse if we went a whole week without any laundry being done the house would explode

explain to me how this works

I am intrigued with how they come up with numbers and costs for repairs. We need the drain pipe or something cleared for $151.86 why can't they round it up? why the extra $1.86?
So I blame D & C for constantly leaving junk in their pockets of course that isn't quite fair i am am the one doing laundry so I need to be more diligent about checking the pockets!
Wasted day again I am not headed across town for an hour or 2 of work and hopefully he will be done soon so I can catch up on my tons of laundry.
Why in this day and age can they not be more precise than they are estimating arrival times? I understand they can not be exact but maybe less of a window? I could have got 1/2 day today if I knew he wasn't showing up till almost 2. Yesterday I could have worked a complete day if I knew Fed Ex wasn't go to be by till 4, my time is valuable as well ya know?

just got the call "sorry running late be there about 1:30"
UGH! unless he is on time and fixes the thing in 15 minutes I guess I am taking today off as well....

they can fix the washing machine today!!! if not looks like we are making a trip to the laundromat on Sunday because of course my MIL's washing machine is on the fritz as well....
have I mentioned how much I hate going to the laundromat yes I know you can do 7 loads at one time but I just don't like it hmmm wonder if the have wi-fi?

wasted day #2?

that remains to be seen I suppose...I completely enjoy those weekends when we have an absolutely do nothing stay in your pjs all day sort of day but when I am tethered to the house waiting on something it drives me batty(yes yes short trip I know). So repairman was suppose to come yesterday between 8-12 no biggie take a 1/2 off work-except I got a call on Wed night telling me I needed to reschedule damn it ok fine wait around for them on Friday instead...Really convenient thanks so very much
I did however have to wait around for Fed Ex all freaking day they did not deliver until after 4...
With all of the fancy tracking etc they seem to have these days could they not come up with an estimated time of arrival? I could have worked a full day and still been home to sign for the package....or could have had it delivered to work there is always someone there.
No instead I did nothing all day, could not even do laundry which is piling up in an alarming sort of way. At least I caught up on all my DVR'd shows, watched the most recent Harry Potter film so I am caught up on those for now and grabbed a nap on the couch not the most productive of days and now I am working on Saturday at least I will be well rested!

washing machine woes

tragedy struck last night when I discovered the washing machine is well sick..
not draining properly or spinning very well either not happy to find that let me tell you!
I made the executive decision to just call Sears to come look at the thing. After the excessively long and drawn out refrigerator saga that did not get resolved till we bought an new one I am not wanting the hassle of a mom & pop repair place and we did get the washer from Sears in the first place so Sears it is.
I was looking for model# for when I called an found the Sears repair phone number right on the washer and when I called to schedule the entire thing was automated little creepy all I had to enter was the phone number they knew the address & last name they even had my cell number as the alternate phone. A little big brotherish but I suppose the last 3 major appliances we bought oh 4 if we count the water heater did come from them.

cursed fridge

yes the cursed fridge is at it again, freezer part working fine the refrigerator part not keeping cool just like in April when we had the thing fixed and then fixed again. If it had been an older appliance we would have just replaced it but now we have $$ plus several days of missed work in the damn thing to chuck it all in now-plus the thing is guaranteed for a year so I guess what another 9 months of dealing with silly crap, works just fine then boom out of nowhere warm milk. So tomorrow I wait to hear back from the repairman, schedule a day then sit and wait for hours for him to show up. I guess this also means I need to toss the contents again..

fixed?!

after showing up almost 2 hours later than the 4 hour window repairman dude seems to have fixed the fridge yet again, something about 2 wires or something I have no idea, David took care of it as he was home early, sick yes sick-fever, chills aches & pains sick and only days away from a car trip to see my family. Hopefully he will have a miraculous recovery or I will be making some very disappointing phone calls tomorrow evening...

ongoing saga of the fridge

yes it is ongoing indeed, so I left messages friday & monday-called a bunch of times without leaving a message on both days, tried different numbers-work, home, cell, david tried absolutely no response. Yesterday I sent an inquiry to the BBB and I called Patterson's which is the store the recommended Appliance Source to begin with, the gentleman was nice & polite got my name and said he would call them. I honestly had written it off, figured I would sent a hateful letter to them another to Patterson's, follow through with the Better Business Bureau and find out it there was some electrical board or someone I could file a complaint with then go buy a new fridge anyway so I did not call this morning at all but on a whim tried a little while ago but did not leave a message. Lo and behold within in minutes I got a phone call back, some bullshit about she had left me a message which I know she did not, maybe she called the wrong number well I left my number each time I left a message and I know they have caller ID-anyway they are suppose to come out tomorrow between 8-12 I am curious to see what time that really means..I am not holding my breath! She did offer for him to come out tonight but connor has a ball game that I do not want to miss and hell we have been without a working fridge since thursday..
I am also curious to see what is wrong with the damn thing, if he tries to extort more $$ out of me or what. I am already resigned to buying a new one next week anyway...

refrigerator woes..

yes the damn fridge is not working again-same problem as before the refrigerator part is not cold so I guess it wasn't the motherboard after all..Here's the fun part the appliance place won't call me back I called friday & a couple of times today with no response. oh sure they guaranteed their work & the part, damn crooks. I really do hate that, I like using a small local business hell most of my jobs since I started working at 16 have been for small local business but we appear to be getting burned this time.
