hair today, gone tomorrow update

hair is growing back-all white although there are still bald spots

when I first shaved my head in April the hair I had was still a dark brown

however lets put the positive spin on this:
over the past year I have saved a fortune in hair care products
I have decided I do look fabulous in hats

hair today gone tomorrow

technically it was gone yesterday, I finally reached my tipping point and had my head shaved. I rather shocked the staff at the salon but it was painless on my end. Funnily enough they made me sign something which they assured me was standard anytime a customer was wanting something drastic done, they offered my a big glass of red wine and asked it I would like to go somewhere private. I declined on the private and accepted the wine and it was done. It freaked me out a little once I left the shop but I am very used to wearing hats at this point. MIL did buy me a wig which I need to get trimmed this week finally so I can wear it but the bad doesn't bother a bit. Well the look doesn't, I did find my head got chilly once the AC kicked in at the house, easily fixed by a bandanna. Going to sleep was a bit strange at first I think thread count on my pillowcases is going to be more important than ever but all in all I am happy with my decision. Now fingers crossed it will all grow back in time!

hats are the new shoes

although to be honest I have never been much of a shoe girl David has more of the Imelda Marcos tendency than I do, my leanings are more towards purses & bags and now hats hats and more hats!
There are some cute choices around town and I have only begun to shop! Plus online has many choices although that seems to be a bit risky not be able to try it on before purchase. I was shocked to see how expensive hats can be like really expensive who knew? I am certainly not spending $40, $50 or $100+ on a hat but my goodness some cute stuff out there

do you like my hat?

I do not consider myself a vain person & I've never had lush gorgeous hair but it was alright I mean I had good hair days occasionally and the bald spots had been sort of tolerable maybe even vaguely amusing but only because I had enough hair to hide them. Except last night I discovered they may being getting harder to hide...insert ginormuos sigh...MIL is suppose to take my to her hairdresser this week and she has been after me to sen a lock of hair to my SIL because and I quote (or paraphrase I suppose) "any hair S gets in Las Vegas is going to better than hair we find here in town" In the mean while I am a hat girl as of now officially. Ran by wally world & got a cute newsboy hat, browsed ebay & amazon and more hat shopping to come...really really soon like this afternoon.

follically challenged

my trip to the dermatologist got me a diagnose of alopecia areata which has no known causes exactly but could be caused by extreme stress so I can still blame David I got steroid injections into my scalp..um ouch on that.. and some topical stuff to rub in until my return visit in 2 months. And the oh yeah it could get worse before it gets better....ugh thanks so much and yes it is still getting worse luckily I can still hide the spots, for now anyway. If it progresses further I suppose I will go hat shopping or hair shopping for clip ins and or a wig or maybe just stick with the hat route even though I really am not a hat person however I am even less so a girl that can pull off bald!

real reason I am not headed to the derby

hats-I can't wear 'em. I love them. I love the idea of wearing one. I just cannot pull it off, I'm ok in the occasional baseball hat but that's it. And mint juleps just sound gross I can't even stomach a mojito but for some reason I still really want to go to the derby...
