when a phone is just a phone

oh the horrors....my not so very smart phone to begin with is back to being just a phone due to budgetary demands I can still text and of course you know call people but who does that anymore?

the help seeing The Help

yes I should have blogged this months ago when I saw the movie but well I just didn't for whatever reason...at the cinema I found it ironic to be sitting next to someone who very much seemed like "the help" with her two rather youngish(read as annoying at an adult film)charges. as soon as I heard the youngest complain of an upset stomach I carefully move my Coach bag out of puking range and had the theatre not been so crowded I would have changed seats as it was the three wound up leaving abour half way through having climbed over our row back & forth a couple of times.

hate it when Tuesday feels like a Monday

today is a little grey, damp & rainy with a fall chill in the air and I am wishing I could have spent the day snuggled up in bed under the covers.

hypothetically speaking

is it ok to glue a pencil on my son's hand? For some bizarre reason in science his teacher wants the student's work on test & quizzes done in pencil and my numskull of a son consistently loses a single point each and every time for doing his work in pen.

first cold of the season

or just allergies? Either way I am pretty much over it. I picked up some generic store band sinus type meds which are flavored but I am not quite sure why...they are to be swallowed why bother with flavoring that you can't taste?

real world problems

letting the kiddo spend the day & night at a friend's house means
-I had to carry the groceries in yesterday
-I have to take the garbage out this morning
-depending on what time I fetch him I might get stuck vacuuming today as well
oh the horror I knew we should have had a second endangered ser...I mean kid


oops I did in fact mean indentured not endangered LOL guess I should not blog until I am fully caffeinated

standard date night

more often than not it usually involves Chinese take-out beer or maybe a bottle of wine and watching a bad movie in the living room. And I love it that way!

coming out of the closet

no no the real closet not the proverbial one. I am not known for particularly waking up gracefully and alert or for seeing well in the dark....and I do not see so great in the light either but that is a different story for another time. Saturday night we went out with friends it was a late night..late for us anyway we got in after midnight, I had a beer or three also not typical for me these days and capped off the evening with a hamburger & fried cauliflower just before going to bed. All of these factors in play around 4 am I woke up decided I needed to go to the bathroom and switch rooms..again another story but the short version is I would rather switch beds than toss & turn and wake up David. It would seem that I apparently got lost trying to head out of the bedroom winding up in David's closet I was unaware at the time but I was also providing a running monologue about being lost and at one point I even said "help I'm lost" in what David is calling my 7 year old Paula voice at which point he turned on the flashlight and helped me out of the closet so the speak.

here we are at fall again

my favorite season & the kick-off to the biggies as far as holidays go for our family plus birthdays..and while C's birthday technically a summer birthday he starts planning around October. Last year is pretty much a blur of doctors, hospitals, ambulance rides, stress & sheer panic. I am hoping to enjoy the holiday season a little bit more this year..a trip to the corn maze on tap, pumpkin carving maybe a few halloween decorations I need a costume, rumor has it C will not be trick or treating now that he is the ripe old age of 11 but I have a feeling that may change as the 31st draws a little closer. Thanksgiving, Christmas cards, decorations, baking and perhaps I will finally have that cookie swap party I have wanted to have for forever now! Also on tap will be the plans for a proper garden in the spring. Lots on my to-accomplish list!

awesome day at the fair

a gorgeous sunny day, not too crowded, plenty of fun and plenty of funfair food to be had!

However next year we bring along a friend for C to hang with the only child thing bites at certain times and this would be one of those. He still had a great time overall but I think that was more to do with winning an air soft gun than anything else. He also won a little stuffed frog or something that we were trying to convince him would be smart to give to the girl he likes at school but I don't think he was quiet buying into the whole idea.
