we have about run out of punishments

this school year has started out much in the same way the transition to intermediate school did so we are to the point just shy of waterboarding the kid..please those with DHS on speed dial put your phone down we wouldn't waterboard...I could only imagine the utility bill that would create for the month. We have run thin on the punishments you can only take away so much and quite frankly grounding becomes just as much a punishment for the parents as the kid. So we have moved onto the book report scenario, over Thanksgiving break C is going to read & write me a book report on Animal Farm heck I think I might just re-read it myself it has been nearly a zillion years since I read it. It will also tie into some extra credit offered by his reading teacher so win win and more productive than limiting gaming time....although he still has not earned that back yet at all

do you ever feel guilty

about starting a book then deciding you really don't like it and have no desire to finish it? Generally I will try to plod through and finish regardless but I have 2 sitting mocking me, well maybe they aren't exactly mocking me exactly but I have my suspicions. And I am terrible about updating my goodreads account too! So I think both of these novels are going ot be chalked up to weel I tried and put into the need to be traded at the used bookstore pile. Which leads me to another thing I have been putting off a trip to the used bookstore maybe we'll head over this weekend and see what kind of goodies we can find

Twilight

do I give into the hype? I suppose I should at least give the books a try. Hell I still need to read the Harry Potter series. Seen all of the movies but not read any of the books as of yet. hmmmm that might be a great Christmas idea for a certain young man that I know and that way Mommy can borrow them when he is finished.

if retail sales are down....

they forgot to alert the folks at Turkey Creek this afternoon! good grief after I picked C up from his soiree we were going to prowl around Borders for a bit and by the time I realized what a mistake it was I was committed to trying just to get to the store, which we did but then could not find anywhere to park. Literally no where to park!!!
I bribed him with a magazine from Kroger and a promise to go to Borders again maybe in January

well what do you know

one of my favorite books is now a documentary. A documentary actually playing here in little 'ol K-town.
You know with the myriad of courses that make up my almost liberal arts degree why do I have no art history classes?
While I try to figure that one at I need to figure out when I can escape by myself for an hour or two so I can see this at the cinema.
So if you like art history with a little bit of Nazis thrown in for good measure you know what to do with a free afternoon!
